Edward Southwell  ( –1829)

Edward’s date of birth is unknown. His child was born posthumously — the parish register for this baptism gives his father’s name as Edward dec’d and occupation as pianoforte maker and his mother’s address as York Square.

Charles Southwell in his book The Confessions of a Free Thinker (ca. 1851) recounts (when in Spain ca. 1843) having recalled his brother Edward’s death from consumption in Brighton some years earlier. There is a record of the burial of an Edward Southwell in Brighton on 22 June 1829, which seems likely to be the Edward in question.
